Todos Santos serenade
Here's the story. While visiting Todos Santos this last December, we took lunch at Restaurante Las Fuentes. Very nice. As we were paying the bill, the Maitre d' started to tell me about his ten year old son and how he had been chosen to go to Mexico city to participate in a concert there.
He explained that when his son had told him the news, he had asked his son. "What do you need from me"? "Well father I need you to pay for my plane ticket and my room and board while I am there". "Yes, I can do that", he agreed. "But tell me son, what will you do to go". " I don't know father". "What can I do"?
"Hmmm, why don't you come and play your guitar for the customers at the restaurante". "Yes father, I can do that".
" Senor", he politely asked," would it be all right if he were to play for you"? " Yes, we would be honored" I replied. In this empty restaurant, on a very pleasent Todos Santos afternoon we were treated to a very special serenade! Afterwards, we gathered up a small collection to give to him. I told him, "Now, you are a professional"
